At just 22 years old, 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗔𝗱𝗲𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗷𝗼 has already achieved what many young engineers spend years working toward. He graduated from Lagos State University (LASU) with a 4.97/5.00 𝗖𝗚𝗣𝗔, earning First-Class Honours in Aerospace Engineering and emerging as the Overall Best Graduating Student of the 2025/2026 academic session.
But Samuel's story is bigger than a remarkable CGPA. It is a story of family, sacrifice, scholarships, research, leadership, technical excellence, parental prayers and faith.




𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗜𝘀 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗔𝗱𝗲𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗷𝗼?
Engr. Samuel Adebanjo (GMNSE, P-COREN) is a 22-year-old Aerospace Engineering graduate of Lagos State University.

He is an indigene of 𝗢𝗴𝘂𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲, specifically Remo North Local Government. And his achievement carries a special meaning within his family.
𝗦𝗮𝗺𝘂𝗲𝗹 revealed that he is the first graduate engineer in his family lineage. For him, therefore, graduating as LASU's Overall Best Graduating Student was not simply a personal academic achievement. It represented the fulfilment of his family's love, sacrifices, parental prayers and what he describes as divine grace.
Samuel graduated with an almost perfect 4.97 CGPA out of 5.00. That result earned him the title of Overall Best Graduating Student of LASU for the 2025/2026 academic session. He ranked first among 8,653 first-degree graduates in his graduating cohort. He also achieved the rare feat of becoming a triple Best Graduating Student, emerging as the best graduating student at the university, faculty and departmental levels. For a student of Aerospace Engineering, one of the highly technical engineering disciplines, the achievement becomes even more significant.



𝗙𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗟𝗔𝗥𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣𝗦
During his undergraduate journey, Samuel received four scholarships.
They were from:
- OPay
- AltSchool Africa
- CyberData Foundation
- Biodun Collins Ogundipe Foundation, etc

These scholarships contributed to his development and academic journey, giving him opportunities to acquire knowledge and skills beyond the traditional university curriculum.





𝗦𝗜𝗫 𝗧𝗘𝗖𝗛𝗡𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗟 𝗣𝗔𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗦
Samuel's undergraduate journey was not limited to lectures, examinations and grades. He also developed a significant research portfolio.

He recorded six technical papers, including:
- Two peer-reviewed SPE NAICE 2026 conference papers, which have been published.
- Three Space/AI papers.
- One Energy paper presentation, etc

This is particularly noteworthy because research publication and conference participation are achievements often associated with postgraduate students and established researchers.




𝗦𝗜𝗫 𝗘𝗫𝗘𝗖𝗨𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗘 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣 𝗥𝗢𝗟𝗘𝗦
Academic excellence was not the only area where Samuel distinguished himself. He also held six executive leadership positions during his university years.

Among them were roles such as:
-SPE LASU Academic Director
-ITSI Project Lead
-Space Club Learning & Development Coordinator

These roles show another side of his university experience. He wasn't only learning inside the classroom. He was also leading people, coordinating projects, contributing to technical communities and developing leadership experience.




12+ 𝗔𝗖𝗔𝗗𝗘𝗠𝗜𝗖 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗘𝗧𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗗𝗦
Samuel also accumulated more than 12 academic and competition awards.

His recognitions include:
- LASU Overall Best Graduating Student
- Faculty Best Graduating Student
- Department Best Graduating Student
- NUESA recognitions
- AESA-LASU Scholar of the Year
- ESS Quizathon
- And other academic and competition awards, 𝗲𝘁𝗰

His Scholar of the Year recognition from AESA-LASU was particularly notable because he won it twice during his undergraduate journey.




𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡 40 𝗖𝗘𝗥𝗧𝗜𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦
Perhaps one of the most striking aspects of Samuel's profile is the sheer amount of technical training he completed alongside his degree.
He has accumulated 40+ technical certifications.

These include certifications and training from organisations and platforms such as:
-NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute (DLI)
-Thales Robotics
-Onshape Pathway
-ANSYS, etc

His Onshape learning alone accounted for 35 certificates. That means Samuel was not simply studying Aerospace Engineering for a degree. He was deliberately building a broader technical skill set around engineering, robotics, artificial intelligence, computational tools and related technologies.




𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗥
Samuel's interest also extends into the intersection of Aerospace Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Space Technology and Energy.

~ His research portfolio reflects this multidisciplinary direction.

~ His six technical papers span Space, AI and Energy, while his professional development includes deep learning, robotics, engineering simulation and computer-aided design.

It is a combination that suggests a young engineer interested not only in traditional aerospace engineering, but in the future of intelligent engineering systems.




𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧 𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗘𝗥 𝗜𝗡 𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗙𝗔𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗬
Perhaps the most personal part of Samuel's story is not the certificates. It is the family milestone.

So when he says his graduation represents the fulfilment of love, sacrifice, parental prayers and divine grace, it puts the 4.97 CGPA into perspective. Behind the academic record were people who believed in him. Behind the certificates were sacrifices. Behind the awards were years of work. And behind the achievement, according to Samuel, was God's grace.

Samuel's journey at LASU has now produced more than a First-Class degree. At only 22, he leaves the university with:

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗗𝗦 𝗙𝗢𝗟𝗟𝗢𝗪𝗘𝗗
His academic achievement also attracted significant recognition beyond LASU.

~The Sunbeth Excellence Partnership Programme awarded him ₦10 million for his outstanding academic performance.

~ Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu also announced a ₦20 million cash gift for Samuel during LASU's convocation ceremony.

His academic excellence therefore became a story not only about one student, but about what young Nigerian students can accomplish when academic discipline, opportunity, mentorship, family support and ambition come together.




𝗔 𝗠𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗚 𝗡𝗜𝗚𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗔𝗡𝗦
𝗦𝗮𝗺𝘂𝗲𝗹'𝘀 story is particularly powerful because of his age. It tells young ones that they can achieve whatever they set their heart to achieve.

At 22, he has already built a portfolio containing academic excellence, professional certifications, research publications, leadership experience and technical projects.

But his journey also demonstrates an important lesson:
~ A degree does not have to be the end of your learning.
Samuel used his university years to build beyond the classroom.
~He pursued scholarships.
~He obtained certifications.
~He wrote technical papers.
~He joined professional communities.
~He took leadership positions.
~He competed.
~He researched.
~He learned technologies outside his immediate degree requirements, etc

And eventually, all those individual efforts became part of one extraordinary profile.







𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗢𝗔𝗗 𝗔𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗗
Samuel is now moving from being a student to building his professional identity as an engineer.

His background in Aerospace Engineering, combined with his interests and experience in AI, Space, Robotics, Deep Learning, Energy and engineering technologies, gives him a wide range of possible directions.

Whether his next chapter takes him deeper into research, industry, postgraduate education, aerospace technology, artificial intelligence or the broader engineering ecosystem, one thing is already clear:
He has started early, as well as exceptionally well.

Samuel ended his announcement with a message that speaks directly to where he comes from:
"I am proud to have made Ogun State and everyone proud!"

For an indigene of Remo North, Ogun State, who became the first graduate engineer in his family, that statement carries more than regional pride.

It represents a young Nigerian who has taken the sacrifices of his family, the opportunities available to him and his own determination , and turned them into something remarkable.
